If you type in “Bauhaus” into a search bar, you might look up to find that half an hour (or more) just passed. Here are just eight of my favorite finds on Amazon:
There are recurring elements (perhaps we can borrow the literary use of the word “motif”): Strong colors (white, black, orange, and red). Angles. Triangles. Circles. Rectangles. White space that holds its own. Bold typography. Juxtaposition of curves and lines.
Even with these commonalities, these covers show a tiny sample of how many variations are possible with these simple, signature marks of Bauhaus design. This irony is perfectly aligned with the irony of achieving a dynamic balance—or balanced imbalance.
